Compression
Compression garments help reduce the swelling and pain associated with lipedema. Ask your lymphedema therapist when to wear compression and what compression garments are appropriate for your activities. Your therapist or a specialist called a fitter should check your compression for appropriate fit.
Generally, compression recommended during exercise and other activities. Compression for night use is optional and typically lower pressure than daytime compression.
Early stage lipedema may not require prescription level of compression. There are many options including over-the-counter compression garments, athletic garments (such as bike shorts), and body shaper or shapewear products (such as Spanx).
